# Project plan — cognitive_behaviour_therapy

Evidence date: 2026-10-18.

Source repository: `git@bitbucket.org:overdrive/cognitive_behaviour_therapy.git`.

Inspected revision: `master` at `836e710` (2022-10-05, "Email address updates"). Full hash `836e710cd6a9b7b502a2f4e3f65d8117a752f799`. That commit is `origin/HEAD`.

The scan-host path named in the onboarding task (`~/projects/sonar_scan/repos/cognitive_behaviour_therapy`) was not present on this machine. Evidence comes from a read-only clone of `origin/master`. The tip matches the commit recorded when the task was created (`836e710`, 2022-10-05).

This plan describes what the repository contains. It does not decide what the product should become.

## Product

**The Centre for Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy** publishes a public brochure website at `http://www.cognitive-behaviour-therapy.co.za`. The site explains cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT) and rational emotive behaviour therapy (REBT), names two Cape Town clinical psychologists, describes anxiety and anger, and advertises professional training.

Provenance:

- **Implemented** — `index.htm` title and meta description say the site promotes CBT and REBT in South Africa. The home page lists knowledge, training, questions, finding a therapist, and related links as the intended uses.
- **Implemented** — the shared footer reads "THE CENTRE FOR COGNITIVE-BEHAVIOUR THERAPY" and links `http://www.cognitive-behaviour-therapy.co.za`.
- **Implemented** — `sitemap.xml` uses that host for the public URLs.
- **Implemented** — `contact.htm` names Jaco Rossouw and Bradley Drake at 67 Visagie Street, Monte Vista, 7460, South Africa.

Spellings in the tree vary: "Centre for Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy", "Centre for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy", and, on `training.htm`, "Center for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy". Which spelling is the legal name is **Unknown / Requires Confirmation**.

No README, product brief, or project plan exists in the source repository. There is no application server, database, or user account system.

Whether the domain is still live, and whether this tree is what the host serves, is **Unknown / Requires Confirmation**.

## Branch reality

`origin/HEAD` is `master`. No other remote branches. No tags.

History is four commits, all on 2022-10-05, linear:

| Commit | Author | Message | What it contains |
|---|---|---|---|
| `a04c349` | Jaco Brits (`jaco@overdrive.co.za`) | Initial commit | `.gitignore` only (Atlassian example ignore list) |
| `529a0d0` | Rachel Mogano (`rachel@overdrive.co.za`) | Initial commit | The site tree: HTML pages, images, documents, scripts |
| `accefc4` | liam-ovd | Update email address | `ask_a_therapist.htm` only: `cognitivetherapy@telkomsa.net` becomes `reception@centreforcbt.org` |
| `836e710` | liam-ovd | Email address updates | The same replacement across 33 HTML files, including `Templates/tmpx.dwt` |

The page content itself is older than Git. Footer copyright is 2011. Training copy on `training.htm` advertises practicums of 28 February–1 March 2020. Archived material goes back to a 2010 world congress page and a `13January2012` folder. Git is an import of an already-built static site, plus one contact-email change.

## Objectives (inferred from the pages, not from a written plan)

No project plan exists in the repository. The following are **Inferred** from `index.htm`, the menu, and the training and contact pages:

- Explain CBT and REBT to the public and to professionals in South Africa.
- Describe anxiety disorders and anger, and point readers at related reading.
- Introduce the two named clinicians and how to contact the practice.
- Advertise local practicums run with the Albert Ellis Institute, and keep an archive of earlier courses.
- Accept questions, mailing-list requests, and training or membership paperwork by email or fax. The site does not process those submissions itself.

## Scope

### In this repository

- Static HTML pages at the repository root, built in Dreamweaver from `Templates/tmpx.dwt`.
- A DHTML menu in `scripts/menu_array.js` and `scripts/mmenu.js`.
- Client-side libraries under `js/`, `css/`, and `SpryAssets/`.
- Images under `images/`, including a map and clinician photographs.
- Downloadable course and membership documents under `docs/`, `dl/`, `PDF/`, and `emailer/`.
- HTML email signatures under `signatures/`.
- Design source files under `PSD/`.
- A static `sitemap.xml` and an HTML sitemap (`sitemap.htm`).
- One Google site-verification file.

### Out of scope / not established

- Hosting, DNS, TLS, and whether `www.cognitive-behaviour-therapy.co.za` still serves this tree.
- Any practice-management, booking, billing, or clinical-record system.
- Mailchimp account administration. Some 2020 PDFs are linked from Mailchimp gallery URLs; the account is not in this repository.
- The sibling onboarding issue for a differently named repository (`cognitive-behaviour-therapy`, hyphen). That repository was not inspected here.
- Clinical correctness of the disorder pages. This plan records that the pages exist. It does not assess the medical content.

## System architecture

The product is a file tree a web server can publish as-is. Pages are hand-written HTML with table layout. Navigation is client-side JavaScript. Downloads are files linked by URL. Enquiries leave the site through `mailto:` links. There is no build step.

```text
Browser
  HTML pages (Dreamweaver template tmpx.dwt)
    scripts/menu_array.js + scripts/mmenu.js
    js/ (Prototype, Scriptaculous, Lightbox, YUI, morelinks)
    SpryAssets/SpryCollapsiblePanel
    styles.css, css/
  Static files: images/, docs/, dl/, PDF/, emailer/
  mailto:  -> visitor's mail client
  StatCounter script (HTTP) on templated pages
```

## Major components

| Component | Role | Evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Public pages | Brochure, disorders, team, FAQ, training, contact | Root `*.htm`, `sitemap.xml` |
| Menu | Home, team, FAQ, disorders, training, contact, links, references | `scripts/menu_array.js` |
| Training pack | Current practicum page plus older course pages and application files | `training.htm`, `docs/`, `dl/`, `PDF/`, `emailer/` |
| Professional meeting | Bimonthly CBT meeting and 2016 membership form | `ABCT.htm`, `PDF/201603/` |
| Enquiry channels | Mailto links; no form handler | Page footers, `ask_a_therapist.htm`, `contact.htm` |
| Signatures | HTML email signatures for the two clinicians | `signatures/` |
| Design sources | Photoshop files, not served as pages | `PSD/` |

## Milestones visible in the tree

These are content dates, not a delivery plan. Provenance: **Implemented** as page copy or folder names.

| When | What the files show |
|---|---|
| 2010 | `world-congress-2010.htm`; `docs/2010/` |
| 2011 | Footer copyright year; `docs/2011/` |
| 2012 | `certificates.htm` (1–4 March 2012); `13January2012/`; `docs/2012/` |
| 2013–2016 | Course and membership documents by year under `docs/` and `PDF/` |
| 2017–2019 | `training1.htm` (March 2017 copy), `emailer/2017` and `emailer/2018`, `training_backup.htm` (March 2019 copy) |
| 2020 | `training.htm` practicum dates 28 February–1 March 2020; forms also under `dl/2019/12/` |
| 2022-10-05 | Repository created and reception email swapped in |

No milestone after October 2022 appears in Git.

## Implementation plan

There is no implementation plan, issue tracker, or roadmap in the repository. **Unknown / Requires Confirmation** whether further site work is expected.

The only change after the import is the reception email address. Nothing in Git describes a redesign, a CMS migration, or a shutdown.

## Known dependencies

Runtime dependencies are files in the browser, not packages:

- `scripts/mmenu.js` (self-contained DHTML menu engine; no library name comment at the top).
- Prototype 1.x (`js/prototype.js`, copyright line 2005 Sam Stephenson) and Scriptaculous (`js/scriptaculous.js`, `js/effects.js`).
- Lightbox (`js/lightbox.js`, `css/lightbox.css`).
- Yahoo UI `yahoo-min.js`, `event-min.js`, `dom-min.js`, used by `js/morelinks.js`.
- Adobe Spry Collapsible Panel (`SpryAssets/`).
- StatCounter (`http://www.statcounter.com/counter/counter_xhtml.js`), project id `3703718` in the page script. The security string is not copied here.
- External reading links on `links.htm` (Albert Ellis Institute, ABCT, Beck Institute, and others). They are ordinary outbound links.
- Mailchimp file gallery URLs on `training.htm` for the 2020 outlines and application PDFs.
- Cape Milner Hotel website, linked as the practicum and meeting venue.

No `package.json`, Composer file, NuGet file, Docker file, or `bitbucket-pipelines.yml`.

## Current project status

**Implemented** as a static site frozen at the 2020 training page, with a 2022 email substitution.

**Not in this repository:** deployment configuration, automated tests, monitoring beyond the StatCounter snippet, and any process that receives a submitted application.

Items that need a human:

- Is `www.cognitive-behaviour-therapy.co.za` still this site?
- Which telephone number is current? The pages and the email signatures disagree. See `business-rules.md`.
- Are the 2020 practicums, the R800 membership fee, and the bimonthly meeting still offered?
- Should `jacorossouw@telkomsa.net` on `training-PTSD.htm` have been updated with the 2022 reception-address change?
- Is `pics.htm` meant to be on the public site? It is a note from a designer to Bradley Drake, with no menu link.
