# Business rules — cognitive_behaviour_therapy

Evidence date: 2026-10-18. Source: `git@bitbucket.org:overdrive/cognitive_behaviour_therapy.git` at `836e710` (`master`).

No business-rules document exists in the source repository. Rules below are taken from page copy. The site does not enforce them in code. Anything inferred is labelled **Inferred**.

Clinical descriptions on the disorder pages are educational copy. They are not restated here as business rules.

## Identity

**Implemented** as footer and contact copy.

- The public name in the footer is "THE CENTRE FOR COGNITIVE-BEHAVIOUR THERAPY".
- The public site is `http://www.cognitive-behaviour-therapy.co.za`.
- The two people named on the contact page are Jaco Rossouw and Bradley Drake.
- Team copy calls both founding members of the Centre for Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and clinical psychologists. Bradley Drake's profile says he is registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. Jaco Rossouw's profile says clinical psychologist in private practice in Cape Town. Those sentences are page copy, not a register lookup.

**Unknown / Requires Confirmation:** company or practice registration number, and which of the name spellings (hyphen, no hyphen, American "Center" on `training.htm`) is official.

## Premises and channels published on the pages

**Implemented** on `contact.htm` and on the shared footer:

| Item | Value on the pages |
|---|---|
| Street | 67 Visagie Street, Monte Vista, 7460, South Africa |
| Telephone | +27 (0)21 5587198 |
| Fax | +27 (0)21 5587425 |
| Email | `reception@centreforcbt.org` |
| Map | `images/map.jpg` only. No map provider |

The same street address is in `signatures/jaco_signature.html` and `signatures/bradley_signature.html`.

### Contact data that does not match

These are all in the repository. The site does not choose between them.

| Source | Telephone | Fax | Other |
|---|---|---|---|
| `contact.htm` and page footers | +27 (0)21 5587198 | +27 (0)21 5587425 | `reception@centreforcbt.org` |
| `signatures/jaco_signature.html` | +27 (21) 558 7252 | +27 (21) 558 7425 | A mobile number is in the file. Not repeated here |
| `signatures/bradley_signature.html` | +27 (21) 558 7252 | +27 (21) 558 7425 | A different mobile number is in the file. Not repeated here |
| `ABCT.htm` membership paragraph | — | Tells the reader to fax `021 5587198` | That digit string is the website telephone, not the footer fax |

**Unknown / Requires Confirmation:** which telephone is current, and whether the membership fax instruction is a mistake.

Email addresses still in the tree:

| Address | Where | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| `reception@centreforcbt.org` | Footers, contact, mailing list, ask-a-therapist, ABCT submission | Set in commits `accefc4` and `836e710` on 2022-10-05, replacing `cognitivetherapy@telkomsa.net` |
| `jacorossouw@telkomsa.net` | `training-PTSD.htm` workshop enquiries | Left in place by the 2022 edit |
| `info@snow-media.co.za` | `sitemap.htm` webmaster, and the left column of `evidence.htm` and the anxiety subtype pages | Subject "CBT Enquiry". Not changed in 2022 |

## Who the site says it is for

**Implemented** on `index.htm`.

The home page says the site is for the general public and for professionals, to learn about CBT, find training and seminars, communicate questions and answers, locate a cognitive-behaviour therapist in South Africa, and follow associated links.

No postcode check, no "we only see patients in Cape Town" rule, and no appointment-booking rule is coded. The contact address is in Monte Vista, Cape Town.

## Educational disclaimer

**Implemented** on `ask_a_therapist.htm`.

The ask-a-therapist feature and the website are stated to be for education only. They are not professional advice or consultation. A person with psychiatric symptoms or a psychological difficulty is told to consult a general practitioner, psychologist, or psychiatrist, or to use the contact page if appropriate.

The site does not present a consent form, an emergency number, or a crisis redirect beyond that paragraph.

The same page says complete confidentiality is ensured and that one question and answer will be posted per month. There is no mechanism in the repository that stores a question or strips a name before publishing. **Inferred:** confidentiality and monthly posting are operational promises, not software behaviour. No answers are published on the page.

## Mailing list

**Implemented** as a mailto. **Inferred** operation: a person at `reception@centreforcbt.org` adds the sender to a list. The repository contains no list, no unsubscribe page, and no consent record.

Subject line the link sets: "Please add me to your emailing list".

## Training eligibility and money

**Implemented** as copy on `training.htm` for the practicum dated 28 February–1 March 2020. The website does not check any of it.

### Who may attend

- Open to psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and graduate students.
- Minimum qualification for certificate candidacy: a master's degree in psychology or counselling.
- Other helping professionals (the page gives alcohol and drug counsellors as an example) may attend the full practicum and receive a Paraprofessional Certificate.
- Proof of degree or licence must accompany the registration form. The page says this twice.
- Only people who completed the Primary Practicum in 2011–2019 may apply for the Advanced Practicum.

### What they receive

- Official Albert Ellis Institute certificates that the page says allow admission to the Advanced and Associate Fellow practicums respectively.
- The page says the Primary and Advanced practicums are accredited by the American Psychological Association for 24 and 28 CE credits respectively.
- Prescribed text named on the page: DiGiuseppe, Doyle, Dryden, and Backx (2014), *A Practitioner's Guide to Rational Emotive Therapy* (3rd ed.), Oxford University Press. Electronic copy is described as available; hard copies are described as offered later to people who have registered, at a rate the page does not state.

### Fees and deadlines

Early registration, described as closing strictly on 20 December 2019:

- R4 500 deposit by 20 December 2019.
- Balance of R4 750 by 31 January 2020.
- Total R9 250.

Late registration, described as closing strictly on 31 January 2020:

- R10 250 per person, payable by 31 January 2020.

### Capacity

Delegate numbers are limited to 16 per practicum because of small-group supervision.

### What the site does not do

- It does not collect the form. The applicant downloads a PDF from a Mailchimp URL.
- It does not show bank details on `training.htm`.
- It does not name the mailbox that should receive the 2020 form.
- It does not count remaining seats.

Older pages state their own dates, venues, and CPD claims (for example `training-PTSD.htm` says 28 CPD points for a March 2013 workshop, and `certificates.htm` is dated 1–4 March 2012). Those figures belong to those pages. They are not a second current price list.

## Professional meeting (ABCT page)

**Implemented** as copy on `ABCT.htm`. The heading and file name use ABCT. The body describes a local meeting, not a membership of the US Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies. The download is named BMABCT (Bimonthly Meeting for the Advancement of Behavioural and Cognitive Therapies). Bradley Drake's team profile calls that meeting his initiative.

Rules written on the page:

- Meetings run 18:30 to 20:30 on the second Wednesday of every second month, beginning in March.
- Open to any registered mental health professional who wants to develop as a CBT practitioner.
- The Centre hosts the meeting and arranges the educational component.
- Each meeting is described as accredited by the HPCSA for 2 CPD points for audience members and 4 points for presenters.
- Members are encouraged to present.
- Venue: Cape Milner Hotel, Tamboerskloof.
- Annual membership fee R800, stated as covering CPD application costs, venue, and administration. The page says neither the Centre nor its members are paid for organising the meeting. Surplus is described as going to books and treatment manuals for the membership.
- The form plus proof of payment goes to the practice secretary, named Tracy, by fax or by email to `reception@centreforcbt.org`.
- The 2016 form and a meeting schedule are the files linked from the page (`PDF/201603/`).

The first meeting described in the body is a 2016 presentation by Bradley Drake. **Unknown / Requires Confirmation** whether the fee, the weekday rule, or the meeting still apply.

## Finding a therapist

**Inferred** from `index.htm` and `faq2.htm`.

The home page lists "locate a cognitive-behaviour therapist in South Africa" as a purpose. The header links to `faq2.htm#find` ("How to find a CBT therapist"). No directory, no search, and no list of therapists other than the two team profiles were found. **Unknown / Requires Confirmation** what `faq2.htm#find` tells the reader to do beyond contacting this practice.

## Webmaster

**Implemented.** Site issues on the HTML sitemap go to `info@snow-media.co.za`, not to the practice reception address.

**Inferred:** Snow Media was the site producer. `pics.htm` is a note to Bradley Drake about downloading images, which fits a designer hand-off. It is not a visitor-facing rule.

## Access rules

**Implemented** by absence of any gate.

- No login, no password, no role, no session timeout.
- Documents under `docs/`, `dl/`, `PDF/`, and `emailer/` are as public as the HTML if the host serves those directories.
- `pics.htm` and `PROOF.jpg` are in the web root with no link. They are still fetchable if the root is published. **Inferred.**

## Currency

**Inferred.** Footer copyright stays at 2011 while training copy runs to 2020 and the email change is 2022. The repository does not contain a rule for when a page is withdrawn. Old training URLs remain files beside the menu's current training page.

Nothing in Git says the 2020 fees or the R800 fee were superseded.
